Husbands of Substance-Addicted Wives
— Research Study
Welcome and thank you for your interest in this study on husbands’ experiences with being married to a wife who abuses substances. The purpose of this research study is to learn about the experiences of men who are married to a wife who abuses substances and how the wife’s substance use has impacted the husband.
Who can participate ?
You may be eligible if you are 18 or older, male, married, your wife abuses substances, and you hold a Christian worldview
Time commitment: First, complete three short online surveys (about 30 minutes). Then, take part in a recorded online video interview (about 60 minutes). Your identity will be kept confidential.
Why this study matters
This study will include two parts. The first part is to complete three online surveys (about 30 minutes). Then the second part is to participate in an online video interview where you will be able to share your experiences (about 60 minutes). Names and other identifying information will be changed, and your identity will be kept confidential.
By sharing your story, you can help inform clinicians and faith leaders as they develop better, family-based support for non-addicted spouses. Participants also receive a $15 Amazon gift card as a thank-you after the interview

What to expect
- Check your eligibility by answering a few short yes/no questions
- Read and agree to the informed consent form before beginning
- Complete a demographics survey and three short questionnaires (Family CAGE-AID, Beck Depression Inventory, and Attachment to God Inventory) — about 30 minutes total
- Participate in a recorded online video interview (about 45–60 minutes)
- Review and approve your interview transcript if requested
- Receive a $15 Amazon gift card as a thank-you after completing the interview
